Yellow Camo Crew: Introducing Michael Lounsbury
Meet someone who embodies what it means to lead with both purpose and passion... Michael Lounsbury! Michael recently joined us at On Purpose Adventures, bringing with him a powerful blend of military precision, HR wisdom, and an infectious enthusiasm for people and process.
He’s trained with us in Charleston, shadowed operations in Greenville, and already made a big impact. Whether it’s leading leadership development workshops, chasing Disney magic with his son, or diving into the heart of team building with a servant-leadership mindset, Michael brings authenticity, humility, and heart to everything he does.
We’re excited about what his presence means for the future of On Purpose Adventures. In this Q&A, you’ll get a glimpse of the energy and insight he brings to the table and why we’re lucky to have him on the team.
Can you share a favorite adventure with our readers?
One of my favorite adventures was taking my son to Disney World for the first time with my fiancée. Watching his face light up as he met his favorite characters and experienced the magic of Disney was unforgettable. It was a time of joy, laughter, and making memories as a family—and truly one of those moments you carry with you forever.
What attracts you to On Purpose Adventures?
As an HR professional and someone deeply passionate about people and purpose, I’m drawn to On Purpose Adventures because of its unique ability to merge impact with intentionality. Walking alongside Ben-Jamin and witnessing his passion firsthand has been incredible. The energy, insight, and transformation that OPA brings to teams is powerful and tangible—and it aligns perfectly with my belief that strong relationships build stronger organizations.
What is something that gives you PURPOSE?
My purpose is rooted in my faith and my family. God gives me guidance, and my family gives me daily motivation to pursue excellence. They are the reason I strive to be the best version of myself—in my career, in my relationships, and in the example I set for my son.
What is your favorite team building activity to facilitate and why?
One of my favorite experiences facilitating was a two-day leadership development course called “LIT – Leaders in Training.” It was modeled on principles similar to the Cohesion Culture™ and focused on helping individuals discover their own leadership style, embrace their strengths, and understand how to better serve their teams. Seeing that lightbulb moment when someone realizes their potential never gets old—it’s an honor to be part of that growth journey.
Do you have any upcoming adventures planned?
Yes! My fiancée and I are planning a weekend getaway to Hilton Head to celebrate her birthday. We're looking forward to some relaxing beach time and maybe a few excursions to explore the area. It's always refreshing to disconnect from work and reconnect with what matters most.
Questions Fast Round
What is your favorite outdoor hobby? Nature walks—there’s something peaceful and grounding about being outdoors and unplugged.
What is your favorite indoor hobby? Singing—it’s my creative outlet and a huge stress reliever.
Tell us something not on your resume that shocks others. I’m a published author—and I’ve auditioned for both American Idol and The Voice! Most people don’t expect that from an HR consultant, but I believe in living fully and pursuing every passion.
Thank you Michael Lounsbury for showing us that leadership can be both grounded and adventurous. Your heart for people, your drive for excellence, and your belief in the power of purpose are exactly what we need as we continue to build meaningful experiences that last!
